Work planned for Wales and England railway border

31 May 2016/Categories: Industry News

Network Rail and its team will be carrying out essential maintenance work around Hereford station as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan.

The upgrades include track renewals and significant work at Shrewsbury Station, meaning that lines between these stations will be affected for travel.

Bus replacement services will be running over the six consecutive weekends that are inclusive of this weekend (Friday 3rd June) and Sunday 17th July.

Paul McMahon, Wales route managing director for Network Rail, said: "These essential improvement works will mean better, more reliable journeys for the record numbers of passengers using the railway."

A train service will be running as an exception during these works on 9th JUly, due to an event taking place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

These are not the only services that will be affected by engineering works during weekends in June and July, so passengers are urged to check weekend plans on the National Rail website.
