The Flying Scotsman train has received a renovated engine and fans of the locomotive are being urged to stay off the tracks and stay safe when it undertakes its tour of Britain during the summer months.

Anyone who hopes to catch a glimpse of this iconic train must remember to be careful, as there is inherent danger from passing trains, among other threats from the railway.

People who attend the tour should therefore make sure that they stay back and watch the train from a safe and publicly accessible area.

The Flying Scotsman returned to the East Coast main line in February after a ten-year and £4.2 million refurbishment by the National Railway Museum.

Its inaugural journey was from London King's Cross to York and it was greeted by thousands of people who lined the route.

Some stops during its tour include a journey from Crewe to Paddington on 8th June and from London Euston to Holyhead on 15th June, among others.

Phil Hutton, Network Rail managing director for England and Wales, said: "While the turnout to see the Flying Scotsman so far has shown the passion and support for steam engines [...] I am urging those who plan to enjoy seeing [it] do so from a safe position and do not go onto the railway under any circumstances."
