Transaid will be bringing a taste of Africa to the forthcoming CILT/IOM Annual Conference and Dinner. The organisation, which saves lives by helping communities access vital transport solutions, plans to bring a life-size model of a bicycle ambulance that is usually used throughout charity’s projects in sub-Saharan countries.

Bicycle ambulances are part of Emergency Transport System’s (ETS) solutions used by volunteers in rural communities to transport pregnant women to heath facilities for emergency treatment. Only in last 12 months over 8,500 people were able to access health care services through the ETS implemented by Transaid and its partners in Zambia, Uganda, Madagascar and Nigeria.

Gary Forster, Transaid CEO, said: “Those who work in the transport industry understand how vital it is to improve road safety and access to basic services, such as healthcare, in hard-to-reach communities.

We always relish the opportunity to attend the CILT events and talk to people face-to-face about what we do, the different ways they can get involved and how getting involved may benefit them as well as us.

"We are also looking forward to chatting about our fun raffle and fantastic prizes that can be won for a modest donation:  A Two-Ball Golf Day at Gleneagles, a magnum of champagne, a Bluetooth 'Sound Square' Portable Speaker and selection of collectable truck models".
