‘In Conversation with…’ is the second in a series of online events where CILT’s Next Generation committee will virtually sit down with a leading figure in the Logistics, Supply Chain Operations and Transport Professions. In the second of this series, Beverley Bell CBE, Director, Beverley Bell Consulting Ltd, Former Senior Traffic Commissioner and CILT Vice President, will be the second key Industry figure in the ‘hot seat’ and her host for the evening will be Rachel Perkins, CILT Next Generation Forum Vice Chair. Rachel will ask Beverley to talk about her Professional Career, her experiences throughout her Career journey and how these experiences have supported her success and brought her to where she is today. Rachel will ask questions submitted by delegates for Beverley to answer throughout the event. Rachel Perkins Rachel Perkins is an Assistant Operations Manager at Bluestar and Unilink, part of Go South Coast. Prior to this, she was a Senior Management Trainee and Assistant Commercial Manager at Hedingham and Chambers, part of Go East Anglia.
Beverley Bell LLB (Hons), FCILT Beverley was born in Nigeria and educated at Merchant Taylors’ Girls’ School, in Crosby. After reading law at Liverpool University, she was admitted as a solicitor in 1985. In 1994 Beverley established her own practice, specialising in criminal and transport law. Beverley was appointed Traffic Commissioner for the North West of England in 2000, becoming the first female Commissioner and in 2012, she was appointed as Senior Traffic Commissioner for Great Britain. In 2017, Beverley established Beverley Bell Consulting Ltd, which specialises in compliance reviews, governance and corporate responsibility and strategic development. The company also offers representation at Public Inquiries and advice on Appeals. In 2021, Beverley started a new venture, Beverley Bell Training Ltd. The company provides a range of training courses including Transport Manager CPC for goods and passenger operations, Transport Manager CPC refreshers, Operator Licence Awareness Training, and Driver CPC courses. Beverley Bell Training also delivers bespoke training for individual companies. Beverley is a Fellow and Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) UK, having previously served as President. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) and former Patron of the Society of Operations Engineers. She is a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry, a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen. Beverley was a Governor at Merchant Taylors’ School in Crosby for a number of years and became their Chair in 2016, before retiring in 2020. In 2017, Beverley was awarded the CBE in the Queen’s birthday Honours List for services to road safety and the freight industry.
