Description: When: 4 December 2023, 18:00 - 19:00 Where: Zoom Webinar Speaker: Barbara Henderson, Forth Bridge writer in residence
Barbara Henderson is an Inverness-based author, storyteller and drama teacher who served in the one-year term of a new role, Writer in Residence at the Forth Bridge. Based on real events, her "Rivet Boy" tells of 12-year-old John Nicol's role in the building of the Bridge. In "Made from Girders" she and photographer Alan McCredie lift the lid on the people who work on the Bridge, promote it, protect it, live by it or play a significant part in its story. One of only four railway locations in the world to have qualified for UNESCO World Heritage Status, the Bridge is the apogee of Victorian engineering, and Barbara will tell us about her year of celebrating it in words.
