Description:

When: Wednesday 8th November from 0845 (for 0930) - 1500 hrs
Where: Palletforce Ltd., Callister Way, Centrum West, Burton upon Trent DE14 2SY

We are delighted to announce “Delivering Safety First”, this year’s Transport & Logistics Safety Forum Conference, the people who brought to you the film Our Vehicles, Our Safety, Our Responsibility: Improving Road Safety for Vulnerable Road Users and accompanying training programme Managing Risk in the Supply Chain, both with essential information for FORS members and CLOCS Champions and both freely available.

This year’s conference focuses on the safety and security of the load, the driver, the vehicle and the delivery process itself giving delegates a unique opportunity to explore the issues and concerns which are at the top of their fleet operator agenda and how these might be addressed whilst networking with like-minded individuals in an open, constructive and non-threatening environment.

We have a line-up of fantastic speakers who will share their expertise and the tools and best practice available to ensure a safe and secure delivery process.  Delegates will have an opportunity to ask questions to our expert panel and view a number of demonstrations to corroborate the conference and the advice provided by our speakers. Our impressive line-up of distinguished speakers includes:

  • Peter Harvey MBE, CEO Fork Lift Truck Association: The Truth about Forklift Safety & How to Make a Difference
  • Nina Day, Senior Engineer, HSL: Ensuring Load Safety on the Road: the Reasons behind Vehicle Rollovers and How to Stop Them
  • Mark Wheel, Senior Engineer (Structures) & LWN Bridge Strike Champion, Network Rail: HGV's and Low Bridge Strikes: Educating the Offenders
  • Dave Higginbottom FCILT, CEO, Driver First Assist: Post Collision Scene Management: Bespoke Training for Drivers who are First on the Scene
  • Paul Rogers, Professor Emeritus of Peace Studies, University of Bradford:  Terrorism Threats faced by the Logistics Industry; What to look out for to counter such threats
  • Jonathon Backhouse, Director, Backhouse Jones Solicitors: Counter Terrorism: How to Respond to an Incident and the Roles, Liabilities and Responsibilities of an Operator

The conference takes place on Wednesday 8th November at Palletforce's fantastic new SuperHub at Callister Way, Centrum West, Burton upon Trent DE14 2SY, an easy trip up the M6 with ample parking.  It will start at 0930 hrs with delegate registration commencing at 0845 and close by 1515 hrs.  Delegates attending will also receive the new "Effective Driver Management Guide" created following last year's conference with input from delegates. This event is aimed at fleet operators in this ever growing area of load risk and threats from terrorism.  Please note the delegate list will be vetted to ensure those attending represent fleet operating and related activities.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day as well as a delicious buffet lunch.

Funded by the CILT Transport & Logistics Safety Forum (TLSF), the conference is FREE to both members and non-members but places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Sadly, free conference places are frequently wasted when delegates simply do not show up, therefore please book only if you intend to attend as not turning up on the day will lead to a £24 charge which will be enforced, we thank you for your understanding.

Secure your place by booking online now or contact our Membership Services Team at membership@ciltuk.org.uk or on 01536 740 104 quoting the event code TLSF0008.

The Forum have made it their mission to make a difference by making all aspects of our sector safer for everyone. Please help us to achieve this with your participation.
