Go-Ahead

Go-Ahead is a leading UK based international public transport company, providing high quality services.

We provide bus services across the country, from Plymouth to Newcastle, and provide a quarter of Transport for London (TfL) services. Nationally we have 5,200 buses, and pre-pandemic we carried more than two million passengers a day.We have successfully led the call for the creation of a National Bus Strategy to revitalise a mode of transport which provides two-thirds of all public transport journeys in the UK. The Government’s Bus Strategy and investment in 4,000 new electric buses is vital to a green recovery from the pandemic.

Go-Ahead holds two UK rail franchises that carry 30% of all UK train passenger journeys, Govia Thameslink Railway and Southeastern. As the UK recovers, offering passengers flexible fares to match their travel patterns will be a key part of tailoring and developing services to meet changing customer needs and new work and life patterns.

We continue to lead the industry with the largest zero emission bus and train fleets in the UK.We campaign for, and invest in, active travel to complement public transport to improve sustainability and wellbeing. Our environmental credentials have been recognised by the Carbon Disclosure Project with an A- rating, the highest of any transport company. We were also recognised as the 'Most Admired' transport company for Community and Environment responsibility in the recent annual corporate reputation survey.

Internationally, we provide bus services in Singapore and Ireland, and rail services in Germany and Norway. We employ around 30,000 people globally.
