Established in 1985, The Authentic Food Company is a family business and has become one of the leading suppliers of quality frozen ethnic ready meals in the UK with a broad range of customers in the retail and foodservice sectors.

Kamal Basran and Managing Director, Nik Basran run their business on the strong family ethics that founded their company. TAFC have a simple mission and believe by looking after their people, products and customers they have created a recipe for success.

TAFC, now a £40m food manufacturer, currently produces around one million meals per week and supply their restaurant quality frozen food throughout the UK and are expanding their presence in Europe.

The company has received numerous awards over the years, recognising their product quality, including gold awards for 3 consecutive years at the Grocer Own Label awards, and 9 product awards from the British Food Federation since 2011. The company has also been recognised for excellent manufacturing and people with 17 award wins since 2011, including a Gold ranking in Investors in People in 2013. Kamal Basran was named entrepreneur of the Year at the Asian Woman of Achievement awards in 2011 and more recently was awarded an OBE for her services to business and charity in June 2013.

Our manufacturing operation is staffed by a passionate mix of multi-skilled and multi-disciplined staff who employ modern and artisan cooking methods to create food that Authentic is simply very proud to put its name to.

Our frozen meals and accompaniments are packed in a number of different packaging formats. To ensure our products are always best in the market our production process is constantly evolving as we seek and utilise new technologies. In recognition of this TAFC received a highly commended award for SME Manufacturer of the Year at The Manufacturer of the Year Awards on in December.
