The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT(UK)) is delighted to announce Alan Jones FCILT, Managing Director, Alan B Jones and Associates, as its new Chair.
Alan took over as Chair of the Board of CILT(UK) on Monday 21st October. He has been a member of the Institute for more than 30 years and was a valued Board member of CILT(UK) before stepping down in December 2017 to become Vice President, CILT International. In his role as Chair, Alan will also maintain his position as a CILT International Vice President and Trustee.
Alan has spent his entire career working in logistics and transport, covering all sectors from container shipping to public transport operations. He began his career as an engineer in the bus and coach sector, becoming Chief Engineer of the then largest division of the National Bus Company, London Country Green Line. He later moved into the transport sector, managing substantial businesses and large diverse workforces in the UK and Europe, before investing in his own businesses in the shipping and parcel delivery sectors.
Alan’s appointment as Chair of the Board of CILT(UK) comes at an important time for the Institute as it transitions into a new era, after celebrating its Centenary in 2019. The Institute is currently undergoing several governance changes, and continues to push ahead with plans to move forward on its strategy and vision to make CILT the essential global professional body for those involved in leading supply chain operations for the movement of goods and people.

I am proud that we have made great strides to develop the Institute into the essential home for all industry leaders and a new diverse generation.

Alan’s background and skills are very much aligned to the next phase of development for the Institute and the changes to be implemented in the near future.”
