Benefits of Full Fleet Deployment

The Lytx DriveCam™ Safety Programme is a powerful tool that helps to change driving behaviour. It’s been our experience that when properly applied, the programme helps drivers at all skill levels to improve.

Despite the programme’s proven potential to benefit all drivers, we’re occasionally asked what we think about adopting a strategy that targets only a subset of drivers in a fleet, such as higher risk or new drivers.
More often than not, one of two (or both) factors are driving that consideration: 1) budget constraints and/or 2) the desire to maximise driver acceptance to in-vehicle video technology.

While we understand these challenges, we advise against using the DriveCam® Programme only to target specific drivers. Here we’ll explain some reasons why.

Fleet Accountability – Using Technology to Increase Driver Safety and Operational Efficiencies

With rising fuel prices, increased wages, and ever-present vehicle maintenance demands, fleet accountability is more important than ever. What is fleet accountability? Quite simply, it’s the responsibility for a fleet’s operation and performance, including what it costs to run, how safely and efficiently it operates, and how well it performs. It’s also being accountable for how a fleet’s level of success in these areas impacts the business’ bottom line.

When it comes to maintaining fleet accountability, knowledge is power. Knowing what’s happening in a fleet, and creating a culture of accountability to support meaningful changes based on that information, can yield dramatic results. And today’s fleets have access to advanced technology to help them do just that.

Driver Risk Management Best Practices for Distribution

In today’s technology-driven world, video-based driver risk management is fast becoming a safety standard in the distribution industry. Video event recording provides documented evidence that can settle questions of liability in the event of a collision. When used in tandem with driver safety management services such as event monitoring and coaching, it further minimizes financial and legal impact by preventing accidents before they happen.

In fact, video-based driver risk management has significantly improved driver behaviour, resulting in far fewer accidents, reduced collision costs, improved fuel efficiency, and other positive changes among top distribution fleets. Using best-in-class safety technologies like video-based driver risk management may also help mitigate damages in the increasingly litigious distribution industry while increasing your bottom line.
