HCT Group is delighted to announce that the Rt.Hon. Sir Vince Cable is to become its new Chair.

Sir Vince will be responsible for leading our board of trustees, overseeing the development of our strategy, ensuring the board provides effective governance and that we operate efficiently and effectively in pursuit of our social mission.

Sir Vince was Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills and President of the Board of Trade (2010-2015). He was Member of Parliament for Twickenham 1997-2015; deputy leader of the Lib Dems 2007-2010 and shadow chancellor 2003-2010. As MP was chair of the All Party Police Group and All Party Group on Victims of Crime and a member of the Treasury Select committee. His political service also drew on a strong track record in industry, gained at Shell International where he rose to the position of Chief Economist.

Speaking about his appointment at HCT Group, Sir Vince said; “I am a great believer in the potential of social enterprise to create social justice, using business to address the pressing social issues of our times. HCT Group exemplifies this, competing in its markets and striving to make a positive social impact – which is why I am so excited about my new role. ”
