Eddie Stobart’s growing online fulfilment business has reached a new milestone this summer with the arrival of a fleet of 50 new specialist box trailers.
Already the division supports some of the UK’s largest and best-known online retailers, and the new fleet of specialist trailers will further support the development of this business. The new trailer fleet, from manufacturer SDC, will be set to work immediately, delivering time-critical express trunking between some of the UK’s biggest sorting centres and ‘final mile’ depots.
Manufactured using the latest in lightweight materials and designed to maximise payloads, the trailers are of the optimum specification with our on-board technology to suit the needs of parcel distribution. Able to accommodate a mix of loose parcels and roller cages, the fleet maximises efficiency and flexibility with the latest load securing systems, allowing for integration of the trailers in the wider Eddie Stobart network for optimum vehicle utilisation.
Online fulfilment sector director at Eddie Stobart, Neil Rowbotham, said: “This is a significant investment and demonstrates our commitment to this fast-growing sector. The new trailers, in addition to our high-spec tautliners, will bring greater efficiencies and flexibility to our business by facilitating the fast and secure movement of loose parcels typical of online fulfilment, but with the capacity to accommodate conventional wheeled cages as well. This gives us maximum flexibility to meet the needs of the disparate online market – protecting our competitive one way pricing structure without compromising our broader network.”
