Yeo Valley selects TrueCommerce to streamline its supply chain

07 September 2016/Categories: Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain

TrueCommerce, a HighJump company, is pleased to announce that Yeo Valley, the UK’s no.1 organic dairy brand, has selected TrueCommerce’s EDI managed service for trading electronically with its customers and suppliers.

As an established brand Yeo Valley are not new to EDI and have been using an on-premise EDI solution to trade with its key customers for a number of years. However, the company’s previous provider did not offer 24/7 support, which was an issue as Yeo Valley receive orders around-the-clock from retailers including Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. Consequently, if issues occurred outside of core office hours it led to potential delays in Yeo Valley’s supply chain, as its incumbent EDI provider was not available to resolve the issues.

“As a supplier of perishable items our supply chain processes are planned to ensure that our products are delivered on time and in prime condition and EDI plays a crucial part in this process.” said Ian Govier, Head of IT & Business Systems at Yeo Valley. “Lack of 24/7 support for our EDI solution had been an issue for us in the past and was therefore a key factor in the decision to move to TrueCommerce.”

A comprehensive support infrastructure with 24/7 availability is a key element to TrueCommerce’s managed service. A dedicated team pro-actively monitor the TrueCommerce platform for message validation errors, in addition to providing the standard technical support that you would expect from an EDI provider.

“With many years’ experience in the Grocery Retail sector, TrueCommerce understands the challenges faced by suppliers. An efficient and reliable EDI service is crucial and any interruption in service can impact shelf availability, with consequences to the bottom line of both the supplier and its customers.” said Michael Latimer, VP Sales & Marketing, TrueCommerce Europe. “We are delighted to welcome Yeo Valley to our growing network of Grocery retailers and suppliers.”

The flexibility and scalability of the TrueCommerce platform will enable Yeo Valley to expand its electronic trading activities and take full advantage of the benefits offered by EDI. As part of the transition to the TrueCommerce platform Yeo Valley will be migrating some of its smaller customers who are not EDI enabled over to using a web portal, whilst also rolling out EDI to its supplier base who the company have historically traded with using traditional methods such as email.
