The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is pleased to announce that Douglas Hickman FCILT will run the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 23rd April and Douglas is hoping that with the help of your sponsorship he can raise a substantial amount of money for this excellent cause. 

The MS Trust was established in 1993 and is a charity that helps approximately 100,000 people in the UK who suffer from multiple sclerosis. 

Douglas Hickman said: “I chose to run the London Marathon on behalf of the MS Trust because my wife Ria has MS, and the Trust provides invaluable support for those with the illness and their families. 

“In particular, the MS Trust provides a range of educational information for people affected by MS and for medical professionals; they support specialist services such as MS Nurses (and campaign for such services to be sustained and improved), they help fund research into new treatments, and they work to influence health policy in the UK to achieve the very best outcome for patients and families.  

“So I am running on behalf of the Trust, my wife, and all those affected by Multiple Sclerosis.”

Douglas is now about to embark on fifteen weeks of intensive training for the event, in what will be his first marathon.

He added: “There is a very real prospect that we might one day be able to cure and prevent this illness, and your donations will help to bring that day closer, whilst helping to improve the lives of those already suffering with it.”
