CILT and ITN Productions have launched ‘Driving the Future’, a news and current-affairs style programme that explores ideas, challenges perceptions and provides a professional voice to demonstrate how the work within and around the supply chain directly impacts people, society, the environment, business profitability and economic growth.

Fronted by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, the programme looks at examples of best practice and showcases the breakthrough and dynamic innovations taking place across the UK and beyond.

The extraordinary breadth of the logistics and transport sector is underestimated by many and this programme brings to life the processes and challenges involved in the movement of goods and their associated supply chain.

The supply chain contributes significantly to ‘UK plc’ and 2.7 million people work in this sector, ‘Driving the Future’ looks at what needs to be done to recognise the roles across the industry and how it can be a life-long and rewarding profession.

During an interview with Natasha Kaplinsky included in the programme, Kevin Richardson, Chief Executive, CILT, talks about the vast range of highly skilled and rewarding jobs in the sector, and how people are unaware of the career paths and transferable skills available to those working within and supporting the supply chain.

The programme features interviews with leading industry figures and news-style reports, along with sponsored editorial profiles of organisations helping to drive change within the industry including BT, Close Brothers Asset Finance, GT Nexus, Key Fuels, Sealed Air and SSI Schaefer.

‘Driving the Future’ premiered on Thursday 8th June at the CILT Annual Conference and Dinner at Chesford Grange, Kenilworth.

Kevin Richardson FCILT, Chief Executive, CILT, said: “We are extremely pleased to once again join up with ITN Productions to produce an important film highlighting the invaluable role our sectors play on society and the economy. Logistics and transport are fundamental to keeping our country moving and impacts directly on every element of the UK and our environment.”

Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “ITN Productions has been delighted to partner with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport to explore the innovations that are rapidly pushing this industry forward and how these help the challenges of today’s supply chains. We have been able to bring to life the misperceptions of the industry and gain insights into the variety if rewarding careers across the sector. We hope that the programme will engage and inform viewers and shape the future of such an important industry.”
