Eddie Stobart partners with Civica

11 August 2017/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Corporate News

Eddie Stobart, one of Europe’s leading supply chain transport and logistics organisations, has entered into a new contract with Civica as part of its long-term business growth strategy. The organisation is now deploying Civica’s state-of-the-art Tranman Fleet Management software, which includes paperless Electronic Document Management, to improve productivity, streamline processes and boost information at the fingertips for all Eddie Stobart operators.

As the business becomes more complex and diversified in its operations, Eddie Stobart is now making further targeted investments in improving technology to simplify back-end processes, while maintaining excellent customer service and meet critical compliance regulation.

Compliance is extremely important within the industry, with large goods vehicles needing inspection on a regular basis. The ability to access up-to-date, reliable records allows the organisation to automatically look ahead with the system, scheduling what maintenance will be required and when, ensuring compliance with legislation.

The new contract with Civica’s Tranman solution will include several self-service web apps to increase operational efficiencies and encourage self-service for operators across Eddie Stobart’s large fleet. For example, advanced email functionality will automatically send emails to external suppliers, incident management companies and internal depots, in turn vastly reducing manual administration, phone calls and the large number of duplicate forms and spreadsheets. This module will also speed up entry of repetitive jobs, ensuring accurate data is available for reporting, giving Eddie Stobart greater insight into employee and business productivity.

Accurate data recording will also assist with more timely and cost-effective decision making. For example, operators will have access to dashboards showing the latest information on vehicle lifespan and running costs against productivity, enabling them to make better business decisions on replacement or redeploying vehicles.

By using Civica’s Document Management module, employees can store any type of file or document against the relevant record using drag and drop. This not only reduces storage and retrieval costs, but also minimises risk with missing documentation quickly identified via dashboard reminders.
John Court, Chief Information Officer, Eddie Stobart said: “It’s critical that we invest in technology to simplify operations and provide our staff with the necessary tools for the job, all while ensuring we continue to deliver customer service excellence. After evaluating the market, we chose Civica as they understood the nature of our business and took the time to understand how we historically operated and how to meet our core business objectives. This new partnership with Civica will allow us to quickly respond to any issues, allowing more time for us to innovate and stay ahead.”

Andrew Whiles, General Manager, Fleet Operations, Eddie Stobart added: “As we expand and diversify our business we want to ensure that our operations don’t become overly complex. While investments in technology are ultimately designed to improve efficiency, it’s also vital for us to create a seamless operation that not only improves customer service, but also makes the experience simpler for our employees. Civica brings together the people, technology and processes that allow this to happen, and we are excited to work with them.”

Jeff Hewitt, Executive Director, Civica commented: “We are delighted to be working with Eddie Stobart as they continue on their journey towards ever-greater customer service quality and diversification into different areas. We understand the constant challenge faced by large-scale companies to improve the service quality of the fleet, while keeping processes simple and costs under control and are constantly innovating our software solutions to meet these issues.”
