As part of its ongoing commitment to building delivery capability for the Digitised Supply Chain, Wincanton has announced the ‘W2 Partner Network’.
The announcement marks the next stage of Wincanton’s journey to lead in the Digitised Supply Chain and focuses on a wide range of capability areas; from in-vehicle technology, Direct to Consumer marketplaces and robotics, to Blockchain and drones. Companies in the W2 Partner Network will span the largest professional services, through to established specialist providers, and start-up businesses.
The programme is an extension to Wincanton’s successful W2 Labs programme, where selected start-ups pitch their products and services to Wincanton, going on to develop their business proposition inside the company’s extensive supply chain network.
Nick Eades, Chief Marketing Officer at Wincanton explained: “Historically, large logistics organisations have pursued a ‘build your own’ approach to technology and innovation. The consequence is often a risky, expensive, rip-and-replace programme, where the legacy applications and platforms are not ready to support the new pace of digital transformation.
“Our approach is different. We recognise the need to integrate our existing data and operations with our new W2 Partners’ to ensure innovation is both collaborative and rapidly deployed to avoid the “legacy trap” in such solutions. Equally, the W2 Partner Network is an ecosystem of credible, agile, companies which means that we can move quickly across a broad landscape to digitise the supply chain in a way that our customers are demanding.”
