CILT International President, Kevin Byrne, is seeking nominations for the CILT International Young Achievers Award 2018. The award will be presented during the President’s Dinner at the CILT International Convention in Wroclaw on Monday 4th June 2018. The recipient of the CILT International Young Achiever Award is also provided with a bursary of £2,000 to enable them to undertake further research and/or travel on a transport or logistics project.
The Award will be made to a young person who can show they have made a significant contribution in their role working in logistics &/or transport.
The Criteria for entry
• The person shall be Under 35 years old on January 1st 2018
• The person will be a member of the CILT
• The nomination should be endorsed by their local CILT Branch or Territory and only one applicant per branch or territory will be accepted. (A number of CILT Branches and Territories have been arranging their own Young Achiever of the Year Awards. The winner is then nominated for the CILT International Young Achiever of the Year.)
• Persons nominated in previous years can enter again as long as they meet the criteria above. Repeat nominees cannot describe the same projects used in previous submissions.
The Application Process & the documents on which the selection will be made
Entries should consist of the following 5 components only:
1. A summary of the achievement in no more than 250 words
The applicant should demonstrate how they have made tangible benefits to their organisation significantly beyond that which might have been expected. In making the award the judges will take into account original and innovative thinking as well as leadership & ownership of the project.
Alternatively, for those who are in full time research or study, whether their research has added significantly to the body of knowledge in that subject and that it will be commercialised in its use.
2. A proposal of how the applicant will use the Award Bursary in no more than 100 words
This should include a list of meetings that the any ‘Study Tour’ will include. If the tour is in a Country with a CILT body, then CILT Secretariat will help with introductions.
3. A career history or CV
4. One letter of recommendation from their CILT Council
5. One letter of reference from the business in which they delivered their achievement

The entries will be reviewed by the CILT Awards Committee which is a sub committee of the Council of Trustees.
The winner will be announced during the President’s Dinner at CILT International Convention on Monday 4th June 2018. If the applicant cannot attend then the delegate from their CILT Council will be asked to collect the award on their behalf.
