Yusen Logistics UK has been awarded a major contract with Seiko following a strategic move to outsource their entire UK warehousing operation.
Seiko is one of the world leaders in timing technology, with global brands including Seiko, Pulsar and Lorus watches, and Seiko & Lorus Clocks, and their focus on precision continues to set new standards in technological innovation. In a considered decision to improve cost efficiencies, Seiko UK, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seiko Watch Corporation of Tokyo, Japan, has recently partnered with Yusen Logistics to support their UK operation.
Yusen Logistics now manage all inbound, storage, picking and value-added activities from the Maidenhead site, where Seiko UK has been based since 1985. Working closely together, the supply chain has been reengineered including the successful implementation of a new Warehouse Management System, capable of processing both retail and eCommerce deliveries, offering further service level improvements for Seiko UK’s customers.
On selecting Yusen Logistics as their new partner, Kinya Iwami, Managing Director for Seiko UK, commented: “We need the reliability and experience of a logistics partner that understands our market, to ensure that excellent service is continued. Yusen Logistics offers us the high levels of expertise with outstanding quality and attention to detail, with a commitment to demonstrable continuous improvement that allows us to further focus on our core business.”
Nick Rees, Commercial Director for Yusen Logistics UK, further commented: “We believe that we can add real value to Seiko UK’s warehousing operations, with a focus on continuous improvement driven by our kaizen culture. We are now looking forward to a long-lasting partnership with Seiko UK built on precision, quality and excellence.”
