Tender invitation for mass transit network in Israel

NTA, the Israel government company in charge of constructing and operating the Tel Aviv mass transit network, has announced its intention to issue a tender for the purchase of rolling stock, systems and maintenance for the two new LRT lines: Green & Purple Lines.

The pre-qualification documents have been published on the NTA website. Both lines will be implemented under a PPP scheme.

The development of the Tel Aviv networks started in 2015 with the construction of the Red Line, the first main LRT line, scheduled to be operative by October 2021. They are now preparing the construction of the next two LRT lines: the Green & Purple Lines.

The Green Line will connect Holon and Rishon Lezion with central Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv University, the industrial zone in west Herzliya, and the Kiryat Atidim high-tech zone. The line will be 39 kilometers long, including four kilometers underground, and will have 62 stations.

The Purple Line will connect Kiryat Ono and Yehud to central Tel Aviv via Bar Ilan University, the Sheba Medical Center, and the Carmel open-air market. The line will be 29 kilometers long, at ground level, and will have 45 stations.

The pre-qualification is open to entities with experience in complex PPP projects as well as design, construction and maintenance of LRT or metro systems and vehicles.

Two projects will selected for the design and maintenance of the LRT systems – one for each line. Operator will be tendered separately.
