In the first eight months of 2018, Bristol Airport recruited nearly 100 new team members, taking the number employed directly by the company to approximately 375, with a total of around 3,500 working for 50 organisations across the site.
Recruitment continues, with roles available ranging from retail and catering to vehicle drivers and customer service (including the newly created Head of Customer Operations role), so there is something to suit all levels of experience. And the latest vacancies are attracting plenty of interest - a recent job advertisement for two Trainee Airside Operations Officers received almost 500 applications.
Local talent is being given the opportunity to shine, with two graduates from the University of the West of England recently recruited. Declan Humphries has joined the Planning team who are currently busy working on a Master Plan which will set out how the Airport could expand to reach 20 million passengers per annum by the mid-2040s. Meanwhile, Kallum Gavin has joined the growing IT Department as a Helpdesk Analyst.
Debbie Hartshorn, Director of People, at Bristol Airport, said: “Bristol Airport is a rapidly growing business so we are always on the lookout for new local talent. We regularly update our website with career opportunities and with a variety of jobs available we would recommend anyone looking for their first role or a career change to take a look. In addition, we will have a new baggage handler – DHL – based here from January and this will create more than 200 jobs.’”
