Leading European forwarder Rhenus Logistics has continued its impressive programme of UK growth, through the acquisition of 3PL provider Core Management Logistics (CML). The deal, completed on 3rd January, sees Rhenus Warehouse Solutions Europe acquire the Leicestershire-based business, which specialises in warehousing, pre-retail, freight forwarding and distribution services for the UK market.
CML currently occupies more than 45,000 square metres of warehousing space, across three facilities, on Lutterworth’s Magna Park, one of Europe’s largest distribution parks. Established in 1990, CML provides customers with flexible warehousing, multi-channel fulfilment, value-added services and international freight forwarding solutions.
CML’s warehouse provision is specifically geared towards the requirements of the UK’s growing e-commerce sector. CML is also the UK’s only provider of Green GOH, a garment-on-hanger solution for the transportation of hanging garments in containers.
Andreas Plikat, managing director of Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Europe, commented: “We view the acquisition of Core Management Logistics as an investment in our expansion strategy in Great Britain”.
Alongside the new facility in the UK, Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Europe also operates logistics centres in Germany, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Poland.
Mark Webb, managing director of CML, added: “We are delighted to become part of the Rhenus Group. We will benefit from a strong global network offering our customers additional European operations and transport capabilities, as well as new opportunities for our employees.”
