Goodman marks investment in last-mile delivery location

26 June 2019/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain

Goodman has broken ground on a 230,000 sq ft logistics and industrial property development at Bermuda Park in Nuneaton.

At an official ceremony on Tuesday 18 June, representatives from Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Goodman and construction partner Winvic, came together to break ground on the 10-acre site located north of Coventry and just two miles from Junction 3 of the M6.

Available from winter 2019, Nuneaton 230 will provide high-quality industrial and warehouse space at Bermuda Park, a well-established location for distribution and logistics. The park, situated in the heart of the Midlands, is already home to a number of leading retailers, manufacturers and third-party logistics providers.

Customers and their employees will benefit from the destination’s strong connectivity and close proximity to the UK motorway network and railway, with Bermuda Park railway station also on its doorstep. Customers will have access to more than 5.5 million consumers within a 60-minute HGV drivetime – with a combined spending power of £86.6bn.

Due to its generous internal height and efficient warehouse layout and design, the high-specification building will provide customers with flexibility and operational efficiency.

Nigel Dolan, Development Director at Goodman, said: “The Nuneaton 230 development is a testament to Goodman’s investment in the area, with up to 350 jobs due to be created in such a prime location.”

“Nuneaton 230 will cement Bermuda Park’s status as a key logistics and distribution location, opening up access to a substantial consumer base and benefitting from strong transport links. Given this connectivity, we anticipate the development will appeal to logistics companies and retailers operating on a national and regional basis, all aiming to respond to rapidly evolving markets and invest in the efficiency of their supply chains.”

Councillor Julie Jackson, Leader of Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, said: “Goodman’s investment in this site demonstrates the strength of the business offer we have here in Nuneaton and Bedworth, particularly in terms of location. The company is harnessing our impressive transport links, rich cultural heritage, abundant parks, green spaces and strong retail mix, helping to attract further businesses across the industrial, warehousing and logistics sectors.

“This is yet another great news story for us – there have been a number of large scale commercial investments recently and there are others in the pipeline. With economic development being right at the heart of our agenda, Nuneaton and Bedworth is very much open for business!”

Danny Nelson, Director at Winvic, said: “We are delighted to be working with Goodman again to deliver this high-quality industrial facility at Bermuda Park and we are looking forward to handing over this winter. Winvic is focused on meeting and exceeding expectations and is proud that our values help to position us as a trusted leader in the industrial and logistics sector.”
