45 visitors from bus body builder Marcopolo South America visited London bus operator Tower Transit’s Lea Interchange depot on 19th October 2019 in conjunction with their visit to Brussels for the Busworld Europe exhibition. Based in Brazil, Marcopolo is one of the world’s biggest bus body builders with plants across the globe.
Tower Transit showcased the hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell and virtual electric buses in its fleet. The delegates were also shown how Tower Transit’s bus routes are controlled and managed to meet Transport for London’s service specifications.
Satnam Cheema, Group Engineering Director, Tower Transit, said, “Tower Transit has always engaged manufacturers to provide a better understanding of the context in which their vehicles are used. The aim is to inform the design of buses that are more intuitive and fit for the environment. We were glad to have an opportunity to provide that context to one of the world’s biggest body builders.”
Marco Portes, Sales Regional Manager, Volvo Bus Latin America said “Tower Transit in London are a world reference in efficiency and it was valuable for Volvo Bus Latin America to better understand the demands of its operations and the unique challenges that come with operating in London.
