Career Ready, a UK wide charity linking employers with schools and colleges to open up the world of work to young people, will be launching an online Skills Festival on 27th April to help their students continue to develop and improve their employability skills.

Career Ready is asking CILT members to volunteer to help play a leading role in helping young people develop crucial workplace skills, transforming their futures and boosting social mobility.

Taking part is flexible and can be done at a time which suits you and your employers - and there's a range of events you can deliver. The good news is that these volunteering opportunities are also acceptable for colleagues who have been furloughed to take part in.

Career Ready is looking for logistics volunteers to deliver industry insights that will showcase the great sector you work in, the job roles and careers available to young people and why logistics and supply chain staff are #KeyWorkers.

There's a range of event activities you can deliver, all via videoconferencing. Volunteers will have the freedom to create their own content with guidance and support from Career Ready, aligned to suggested themes.

  • Skills workshop: Provide students with the skills and knowledge needed for a professional environment. Sessions last 30-60 minutes and can be delivered alone or in small groups.
  • Industry insights: Give students an opportunity to learn about different job sectors and roles. Sessions last 60 minutes and can be delivered alone or in small groups.
  • Career Ready masterclasses: Help student develop key skills for career success. Sessions last 60 minutes and can be delivered alone or in pairs.
  • Mental Wellbeing: Provide advice and support on mental health and wellbeing. Sessions last 30-60 minutes and can be delivered alone or in pairs.
  • CV & application workshop: Boost students’ knowledge in creating CVs and job application forms. Sessions last 30-60minutes and can be delivered alone or in small groups.
  • CV Clinic: Give students 121 feedback and coaching on their CVs. Sessions last 30 minutes and must be delivered alone.
  • Mock interviews: Help students learn how to prepare for job interviews. Sessions last 30 minutes and must be delivered alone.
