The Transport and Logistics Trailblazer Group is to submit for approval for its new Transport and Warehousing Operations Supervisor apprenticeship.

This training scheme is a Level 3 Apprenticeship and will take place over a 12 month period.

Within this scheme, apprentices will be able to choose between a Road Transport or Warehousing option.

For apprentices that choose the transport option, the  Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence will be incorporated in the programme and will be a requirement in order to complete the apprenticeship.

Apprentices who choose the warehousing option will be required to sit the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Award in Warehousing.

A considerable amount of work has gone into preparing the Apprenticeship Standard and End Point Assessment in order to submit the application in September.

When approved, the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education will recommend the funding amount for employers wishing to engage apprentices on this programme.

A spokesman for the Trailblazer Group said: "This [apprenticeship] should assist transport and logistics companies to recover some of the Apprenticeship Levy they have been paying’.

CILT(UK) is interested in hearing from its members’ on the need for such an apprenticeship and the likely engagement for the scheme.
