Underground sees record improvement in reliability

20 February 2015/Categories: Industry News

Average journey times on the London Underground (LU) have reached a record low on account of improved reliability.

The change has been so marked that the International Report has named the LU and the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) as the most improved of 32 metro systems in 30 countries around the world.

Transport for London (TfL) has revealed that dependability on the Victoria line improved by 74 per cent, and by 67 per cent on the Jubilee line.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “London Underground is carrying a staggering number of people each day and as our population grows we are continuing to invest to ensure the Tube's future success.”

Further upgrades to the network are set to continue, with air-conditioned walk-through trains due to serve 40 per cent of the LU. These trains are already in use on the Metropolitan, Circle, Hammersmith and City and District line routes.
