Two-thirds of business drivers 'happy with telematics'

21 October 2014/Categories: Industry News

Two-thirds of drivers would be comfortable with Telematics being installed in their vehicles, according to a new study.

Atomik Research surveyed 2,032 UK employees who drive for a living on behalf of Masternaut and found 68 per cent would be comfortable with the technology, which monitors driving, Computerworld UK reports.

Some 72 per cent of respondents said they did not currently have Telematics installed in their vehicles.

Privacy concerns were the most commonly cited reasons for resistance to having driving monitored, with others including scepticism regarding its benefits and uncertainty regarding the use of the information.

Martin Hiscox, chief executive officer and chairman of Masternaut, said feedback about data privacy should not be ignored.

"We've worked closely with unions and workers councils across Europe and taken the feedback on board to create a system that addresses driver and business requirements," he added.
