Defra has recently been engaging with industry on the HGV driver shortage, in order to understand how it can support and ease pressure on relevant sectors.
Through these discussions, Defra has received reports that changes to the off-payroll working rules (IR35 regulations) in April 2021 have been a contributing factor to these challenges.
Defra is therefore inviting interested parties to join a webinar run by HMRC on IR35 regulations, in order to provide an overview of these changes and answer any questions.
This webinar on off-payroll (IR35) rules is aimed at medium and large client organisations, agencies affected by the changes, and will cover:
- What the off-payroll working rules are and who they affect
- When an off-payroll worker's employment status for tax needs to be determined
- Statutory obligations of clients and agencies
- How information should flow down the labour supply chain
- How liability can move within the labour supply
- Practical steps to consider when applying the rules
- Q&A session
