Introducing CILT’s Next Generation UK Forum

08 September 2021/Categories: CILT, Institute News

CILT is proud to launch the Next Generation Forum. The Next Generation Forum is relevant to those considering a career, starting their career or those who have recently transferred to logistics, supply chain and transport as well as those with up to 10 years' experience in their field.

The Next Generation Forum has been created with the mission to create a community for people to expand their knowledge and to seek support with their career progression.

Elected as Forum Chair is Oliver Craig. Oliver started his career on Network Rail's General Management Graduate Scheme and now works as part of the Network Rail team delivering the Transpennine Route Upgrade, a route that is set to transform passenger and freight railway infrastructure between York and Manchester.

“Having worked on a committee solely focused on rail, I am excited to work with the Next Generation which will include people from across the logistics, supply chain and transport sectors. I think these committees are so important for people starting out on this career path as it allows them to learn from others in the industry and as well as it being a great chance to socialise with likeminded people.  I’m really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into delivering events and opportunities that people will benefit from and enjoy. The first one is taking place on 30th of September; details to follow in due course," Oliver says.

Rachel Perkins has been elected forum Vice-Chair. Rachel is part of the Go Ahead Graduate Scheme and specialises in the commercial department. Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge about the bus sector and is very keen to support and learn more about all sectors within logistics, supply chain operations and transport professions. Like Oliver, Rachel feels strongly that the new Next Generation Forum is a chance to create a diverse membership.

“When I was at university, the only part of the transport sector that was advertised as a career option was consultancy. That may be suitable for one target audience, but it provides a very limited view on what transport is actually about. We need to make the transport sector be seen as accessible for all – only positive things can come from this," Rachel says.
