Victoria line gets most frequent trains

02 July 2014/Categories: Industry News

Passengers using the Victoria line on the London Underground now benefit from the UK's most frequent train service.

At the busiest times on the line there are now 34 trains per hour, at intervals of less than two minutes. This will provide capacity for thousands of extra passengers.

In addition, customers travelling on Saturday afternoons are benefiting from a train every two and a quarter minutes. On Sunday, trains run every two and a half minutes from 9am and through the evening until 10pm.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: "Thanks to state of the art signalling and a brand new fleet of trains, the Victoria line now holds a national badge of honour as the most frequent train service in the UK."

Modernisation of the Northern line is also nearing completion and London Underground is already increasing the frequency of its services using the new signalling system.

Some 22 trains per hour are being run on the line during the busiest morning and evening peak hours - up from the 20 per hour previously run.
