London Luton Airport has signed up to the ‘Toulouse Declaration’, a commitment from over 35 European countries and 146 aviation industry stakeholders to transition to Net Zero emissions by 2050.
The airport owner, Luton Rising has committed to a Net Zero target and will achieve Net Zero ground operations by 2040.
The Toulouse Declaration marks the first public-private global initiative on aviation decarbonisation, signees include European Governments, the European Commission, the wider industry, unions, and other key stakeholders.
London Luton Airport will invest in the development and implementation of decarbonisation technologies. This will include operations, next-generation aircraft, and engines, as well as different kinds of sustainable aviation fuels.
