Newcastle residents are being encouraged to use sustainable modes of transport by a new campaign.
The Go Zero initiative has been established to help ensure the council meets its commitment to cut carbon emissions by at least 20 per cent by the end of the decade, ClickGreen reports
It aims to encourage residents of the city to make more use of Newcastle's Great Park & Ride X40 bus service, join the city's car club and charge their electric vehicles at its free, accessible charging points.
Newcastle has one of the largest networks of electric car charging points in the UK - over 70 in total - and these are free to use.
The 'Co Wheels car club' enables people to take vehicles from a designated bay to use before returning them to the point of origin or leaving them at another designated spot in the city.
Harvey Emms, assistant director of development at Newcastle City Council, said: "The Go Zero campaign is a fantastic way for the people of Newcastle to find out more about travelling in a way that is easier, greener and often cheaper."
