Sponsored News: Sector still struggling with staff shortages

30 August 2022/Categories: Industry News

According to research from online talent sourcing agency Talent.com the transportation labour market had an increased shortage of candidates and will continue on this trajectory throughout the year because of Covid-19 and Brexit.

The 2022: Adapting to the New Normal report - conducted in association with labour economist Morgan Raux - combines official statistics from the Office for National Statistics with data from Talent.com.

A separate survey by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT (UK)) confirms the sectors’ staffing challenges, revealing that 86% of organisations are experiencing staff shortages and struggling to recruit and retain staff.

“Sadly, the skills shortage is clearly not easing for many of the country’s largest logistics organisations, but for those wanting to refresh their recruitment and retention strategies, it’s easy to make some simple changes to how and what is offered to workers that will deliver instant improvements,” comments David McCormack, CEO of HIVE360.

HIVE360 provides expert, compliant and reliable PAYE payroll support and comprehensive employment administration that includes support to kickstart employee engagement strategies and activities, via its mobile employee pay and benefits app Engage.

“One of the best ways to improve staff recruitment and retention is with a customised digital mobile employee benefits and rewards package that is focused on employee engagement, benefits and rewards, and gives workers 24/7 confidential support of their physical, mental and financial health and wellbeing,” David says.

“Having a supportive workforce culture with a wellbeing programme and employee benefits package not only increases staff attraction, it also helps lower staff absences, increases morale, improves efficiency and productivity, boosts the employer brand, and enables employee recognition and financial support.”

HIVE360’s mobile employee pay and benefits app Engage is provided as standard to businesses that outsource payroll and employment administration to the company. It includes My Health, My Money, My Work and My Training features.

“The My Training feature delivers a choice of over 100 quality, accredited training courses including Health & Safety, as well as HR compliance, Business compliance, Management, and a range of soft skills.

“Analysis of the latest user data indicates that UK workers and employers are turning to online work-based training as part of a strategy to help tackle the skills shortage by upskilling, retraining and developing the workforce, with an 86% increase in the number of workers using the My Training platform,” adds David.
