Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II’s on 8 September 2022, tributes and statements of condolence flowed in from organisations across the logistics and transport sector.
Sharon Kindleysides FCILT, Chief Executive at CILT(UK) said: “We are deeply saddened by Her Majesty’s passing and extend our condolences and deepest sympathy to our Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, and all members of the Royal Family at this sad time. Queen Elizabeth II served the people of this country with dedication and generosity for more than 70 years. Her life of service has touched so many of us and her reign was one of impact, inspiration and influence.”
Anne-Marie Trevelyan, UK Transport Secretary said: “My whole life has been filled with Queen Elizabeth II, a woman of such extraordinary courage and optimism, always radiant and loving, a beacon to us all on what resilience and devotion to duty looks like every single day. Her death is heart-breaking. May she rest in peace.”
Andy Byford, London’s Transport Commissioner, said: “It is with great sorrow that we have learnt of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. We send our deepest sympathy to His Majesty The King and all members of the Royal Family.”
Eamonn Boylan, Chief Executive of Transport for Greater Manchester, said: “It is with the greatest sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. The Queen was a loyal public servant who dedicated her life to this country, and this very sad news will be felt by many throughout Greater Manchester, across the UK and around the world. The thoughts of everyone at Transport for Greater Manchester are with the Royal Family at this time.”
