Campaigners seeking to keep Manston Airport open are considering using a compulsory purchase order to do so.
Talks regarding the airport's future were held over the weekend between owner Ann Gloag and Thanet District Council.
The airport closed last week after revealing it had received no viable offers, leading to the loss of 150 jobs.
Local conservative MP Sir Roger Gale has been working with council members to consider ways of keeping the airport open. A compulsory purchase order could be placed on the site as a means of accomplishing this.
"The advice that I've had... is that this is perfectly possible, quite do-able, and I would hope and expect that the advice from officers will be that Thanet can go ahead," he said, according to the BBC.
Ms Gloag rejected three offers from US investment group RiverOak to buy Manston Airport. The Scottish businesswoman originally bought the airport for £1 but losses of £10,000 a day prompted the decision to close it down.
