14 September 2023/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Rail

Women in Rail is delighted to announce the appointment of Marie Daly as the charity’s new Chair.

Having impressive experience within the rail sector with over 13 years in the industry, her current role is Chief Customer and Culture Officer at Transport for Wales.

On Monday September 11, Marie officially took her position as Chair for Women in Rail and said: “I am delighted and extremely proud to be given the opportunity to be at the helm of such a respected and valued organisation and thank the Trustees for their confidence.

“Women in Rail was established to improve gender balance, diversity and inclusion in the UK rail industry and we continue to work to address female underrepresentation across all levels of the career spectrum.

“I look forward to further shaping and influencing our important work particularly at such a challenging, yet exciting, time for the sector” she added.

Rail Vice Chair, Shona Clive, said: “Women in Rail continues to be a vibrant and forward-thinking force for good within the rail sector and I am looking forward to supporting Marie in her new role.

Women in Rail isn’t just for women—it’s for the entire rail industry. By embracing diversity and inclusion, we are building a stronger future for rail, where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive. Join us on this exciting journey as we reshape the rail industry and make it a more vibrant and inclusive community for all” she added.

Women in Rail was created to improve diversity in the UK rail industry, providing networking opportunities and support for all women within the sector. Since 2012 when the charity was established, Women in Rail’s goal has been to encourage undertakings and stakeholders to adapt diversity as a business strategy and creating initiatives aimed at positioning rail as an attractive career choice for young people.
