22 November 2023/Categories: Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Institute News

Last week CILT had the pleasure of welcoming Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal to the 10th Annual Transport and Logistics Safety Forum (TLSF) Conference at the National Memorial Arboretum.

The Princess Royal made a speech acknowledging the industry and the work being done to improve transport safety going forward.

Some guests and speakers met with her before she spoke to exhibitors at the conference showing great interest in the future of the industry.

Glen Davies, Transport & Logistics Safety Fourn Chair said: “This year we are delighted to welcome CILT patron Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal to this 10th anniversary conference.

Over the past decade we have helped tackle some of the most topical and sensitive issues that face our industry today.”

The theme for this year’s TLSF conference was ‘the human factor’ as we heard from a variety of speakers such as Karl Wilshaw FCILT, Fleet Director at Travis Perkins and Dr Lisa Dorn, Associate Professor of Driver Behaviour at Cranfield University.

They announced findings of a study identifying three major areas to focus on to improve driver safety. Those areas being skill decay, stress and performance and Attention lapses and distractions.

Committee members Alison Moriarty FCILT and Karen Crispe FCILT completed a presentation on ‘a decade of safety’ highlighting the forums work over the past 10 years before The Princess Royal made her speech.
