Aspire, a charitable careers foundation within CILT(UK) is delighted to announce the appointment of  two new Co-chairs, Sue Byrne and Dan Myers.

Both were officially announced as Co-Chairs at this year’s Institute Annual Lunch on December 1.

Sue Byrne has been involved with the institute since she was a learner, first winning Student of the Year Award and also being presented an award by HRH The Princess Royal. Sue completed her CPC qualification at 21 and become a transport and fleet manager qualifying in a class where she was the only female.

Today, Sue is currently the VP Operations EMEA for SharkNinja and has an extensive and impressive background in the logistics industry.

Sue said: “I have volunteered to work with Aspire because in my career I have loved doing things that have brought about change and improved lives. I feel my skills and passion for development and training, and making that accessible for all in our industry can really make a difference through Aspire.”

Dan Myers, Managing Director at XPO Logistics, started his career after landing a graduate role within the logistics industry in the early 2000s and now has 26 years within the industry.

Dan said: “Aspire is a charity that gives something back, it makes a difference to people’s lives through supporting their personal development.

“As a “product” of our industry I know and appreciate the value of personal professional development and I hope that my experience can help Aspire build on the solid foundation the team have created.”

CILT UK’s Director of Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management, Bethany Windsor said: “All at CILT(UK) are delighted that Sue and Dan have joined Aspire as Co-Chairs.

“Their knowledge of, and passion for, the profession will see Aspire evolve to further support those wanting to step into, or step up in, the sector.

“I look forward to working with Sue and Dan, and extend our thanks to Paul Durkin, Chief Customer and Innovation Officer at Wincanton, for his tenure as outgoing Chair.”
