Flying Tiger Copenhagen joins Maersk's ECO delivery

24 January 2024/Categories: Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Ports, Maritime & Waterways

Maersk has announced that Flying Tiger Copenhagen will be transporting its entire ocean freight volume under Maersk's care using the ECO delivery solution.

The move is aimed at significantly cutting down greenhouse gas emissions from ocean logistics.

Through ECO Delivery, Flying Tiger will be able to manage ocean transports using certified green fuels, including second-generation biofuel derived from waste feedstocks. These eco-friendly fuels will replace traditional fossil fuels on Maersk's container ships, and customers will receive certificates confirming the corresponding greenhouse gas emission savings.

The adoption of these sustainable fuels is expected to result in a reduction of over 80% in the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions of seaborne transports, compared to the use of conventional fossil fuels.

CEO of Flying Tiger Copenhagen Martin Jermiin said: “We want to be the frontrunners in the green transition of the retail industry and do our part to pass on a better globe to future generations.

“We want to offer affordable products which are good for the environment and ultimately end dependency on virgin fossil materials and fuels.

“With ECO Delivery, we have found an efficient solution for avoiding emissions from our maritime logistics and are pleased to have a like-minded partner at our side here in Maersk.

Nordic Area Head of Sales at Maersk Stig Kirkegaard said: “It’s great to see retail companies like Flying Tiger Copenhagen being among the pioneers and largest users of our ECO Delivery Ocean solution to reduce their greenhouse gas footprint from their logistics activities, and it’s an even greater pleasure to see such a close partner as Flying Tiger Copenhagen joining the growing group of Maersk customers transporting 100% of their ocean cargo with Maersk under ECO Delivery.”
