Firth Steels Ltd, a prominent manufacturer of steel profile products, has partnered with leading polymer barrier manufacturer A-SAFE to implement a safety solution at their rapidly expanding six-acre industrial production facility.
Based in Brighouse, Firth Steels Ltd is renowned for its global distribution of steel products, serving diverse sectors including construction. Their extensive product range encompasses roof and wall profiles, roof decks, Protex® System, floor decks, and bespoke profiles. Notable clients and projects include Amazon, Google, Tesla DPD, Prologis, The Shard, Heathrow Terminal 5, Olympic Stadium, and Wimbledon Centre in London.
During a period of exponential growth, Firth Steels Ltd recognised the importance of bolstering safety measures throughout their manufacturing and distribution facility. They sought a local partner to enhance site safety and chose A-SAFE. Working closely with A-SAFE, Firth Steels Ltd tailored a safety program that addressed specific operational requirements while maintaining productivity.
A-SAFE’s safety solutions encompassed pedestrian route definition, traffic management, and asset protection in multiple areas of the facility. A-SAFE's advanced products, including iFlex™ Double Traffic Barriers, iFlex™ Double Traffic Barriers+, and self-closing iFlex Swing Gates, were deployed to regulate pedestrian traffic and ensure safety.
In the steel recycling zone, Step Guards were installed to shield pedestrians from potential hazards related to forklift trucks and overhanging self-tipping bins used for scrap metal storage. The new production line extension was secured with iFlex™ Double Traffic Barriers+ and iFlex™ Bollards to enhance driver visibility for heavy-duty vehicles. Similar enhancements were made to segregate pedestrians and protect machinery from Material Handling Equipment (MHE) traffic.
Approximately 200 metres of A-SAFE's advanced polymer safety barriers and products were installed throughout the Firth Steels Ltd manufacturing facility. These solutions not only enhance safety but also support Firth Steels Ltd's ongoing plans for facility upgrades.
