FedEx expands shipping platform integration for small businesses

09 December 2024/Categories: Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Operations Management

FedEx has launched a new programme enabling shipping platforms to more easily integrate its services, targeting growing ecommerce businesses seeking logistical support.

The programme allows platforms to connect with FedEx services via APIs, complementing the existing FedEx Compatible® Solution Program.

According to the transportation company, this development comes as the European supply chain software market is projected to reach US$5.34bn by 2029, with an anticipated annual growth rate of 3.34%.

Stijn Meeus, Managing Director Marketing at FedEx Europe, explained: "A small ecommerce business just starting out is usually able to fulfil orders on their own through FedEx Ship Manager, our standard shipping application on fedex.com.

“However, once order volumes begin to grow or customers start to expand to other markets, they may look to shipping platforms, and we're delighted to be able to facilitate the smaller shipping platforms now as well."

He added: "This new programme means that more platforms can integrate our services with less overhead. The first Integrators are already live, actively onboarding customers. For the small businesses, it means they can ship via more third-party solutions."

The programme offers a free, largely self-service onboarding process, ensuring quick integration while maintaining FedEx's technological compliance standards.
