Williams Shipping has completed the acquisition of Aberdeen-based GIF Transport and Logistics alongside purchasing a significant parcel of land in Dyce, marking a strategic expansion for the marine and logistics services provider.
The deal sees GIF continuing to operate under its existing name as a subsidiary of Williams Shipping, with curren
t management and teams remaining in place. Day-to-day operations will remain unchanged, the companies confirmed.
The acquisition includes a new site in Dyce which will serve as a multi-purpose operations hub. The facility will house GIF's headquarters, providing operational and warehousing space, whilst also supporting Williams Marine Lubricants' storage and distribution operations and enhancing container services for Willbox, Williams Shipping's specialist container division.
Jonathan Williams, Managing Director of Williams Shipping Logistics, said the partnership builds on an existing working relationship between the firms. "Our transport team have already built up a solid working relationship with GIF as a supplier and a customer. This new partnership is built on shared values and a joint commitment to delivering first-class service," he commented.
Williams emphasised the strategic importance of the Aberdeen location, noting: "Aberdeen remains a vibrant marine and logistics hub with a wealth of skills and knowledge across many key sectors. The region is at the forefront of the energy transition and home to Europe's leading marine support centres for the offshore energy industry."
Brian Pirie, Director of GIF Transport and Logistics, welcomed the partnership, stating: "We're excited to join forces with Williams Shipping. This allows us to maintain the exceptional service our customers rely on, while also securing the long-term growth and sustainability of the company."
The Aberdeen site is expected to become operational later this year, with phased development plans already underway. Both companies have emphasised their focus on maintaining service continuity for existing customers whilst pursuing collaborative growth opportunities across the UK logistics sector.
