The Novus programme charity, governed by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CILT UK) was founded in 2012 to enhance the employability of undergraduate students and help to provide the industry with a pipeline of engaged, work-ready graduates.
To date, Novus has partnered with 17 universities across the UK and is supported by 11 corporate sponsors including brands such as Haribo, Morrisons, CEVA Logistics, Arla, and Kuehne + Nagel.
The programme has recently reached a milestone of supporting over 340 students into placement and graduate roles with the aim of demonstrating its value to both young people and to businesses investing in future talent.
Novus offers students a unique combination of academic study, practical experience, and direct industry engagement.
Its sponsors additionally benefit from early access to talented graduates as the programme plays a role in addressing skill shortages across the sector.
Participants benefit from paid placements, graduate schemes, and structured mentoring.
Zara Nash, Novus Programme Manager said: “This approach enables students to gain the skills, insight, and confidence required to thrive in the logistics, transport and supply chain professions.”
“We are delighted to reach this milestone and grateful to our full list of sponsors and university partners who make this possible as we continue to grow.”
For employers, Novus aims to represent prospects to shape the next generation of professionals, support diversity in the sector, and engage with motivated students who are committed to developing their careers
Current Novus student and summer intern at Kingfisher plc, Jose Malanga, said: “A key turning point for me was the Novus careers fair and hearing from businesses who were genuinely interested in giving students key roles and opportunities in international and national businesses.”
“So far for me, the Novus programme has opened the door that felt out of reach a year ago. I have also been able to connect with other Novus students hearing different experiences and gaining advice of how to get the most out of my placement.”
