Supply chain and transport are industries shaped by complexity, pace and constant change — and within these environments, women continue to break new ground, lead with impact and redefine what leadership looks like. But the journeys behind those successes are often far from linear. This webinar brings together female leaders from across the sector to share the real stories behind their career progression: the moments that shaped them, the challenges they overcame, the allies who supported them and the lessons they learned along the way. Rather than offering prescriptive steps or generic advice, this session focuses on learning through lived experience — honest conversations about confidence, courage, career crossroads, visibility, authenticity and growth. Attendees will gain insight into how leaders have navigated male‑dominated environments, built their networks, made pivotal decisions and developed as people and professionals. CILT
Speakers: Edward Wilson, Regional Director, Heavy Haul Rail Julian Worth, Rail Freight Forum Chair This new two‑part webinar format from the Rail Freight Forum will take members through the uncoupling of Freightliner’s bulk materials operation into a separate division, undertaken to enable the sale of the container business to CMA CGM — a transaction completed in January 2026. Part One will be delivered by Ed Wilson, Commercial Director at Heavy Haul Rail, who will guide members through the practical steps, commercial reasoning and organisational challenges involved in separating the bulk and intermodal elements of the business — and how to “uncouple a business with intent”. 'With high diesel prices hitting road haulage, rail has started the new financial year very strongly in both Intermodal and Construction. Julian Worth will review this, new gauge clearances on the Midland Main Line and new service introductions such as the Go Express fast freight service to Scotland' Part Two, to be delivered on 7 July, will be presented by Peter Graham, Policy & Government Affairs Director at Freightliner. He will outline how the intermodal business is now being taken forward, its strategic direction post‑transaction, and how the two successor companies are positioning themselves for the future. Designing Better Transport Services
CILT
Speaker: Emmanuel Mogaji, PhD, Associate Professor in Marketing, Keele Business School The webinar will explore: Transport is more than moving people from A to B; it is a service that shapes how individuals access work, education, healthcare, and everyday opportunities. This session takes a practical, industry-focused look at how transport services can be designed to deliver better outcomes for customers, communities, and organisations. Rather than focusing only on infrastructure, the session highlights how service design, operational delivery, and customer experience come together to define the quality of transport. It explores what “good” looks like in today’s context: reliable and responsive services, clear communication, accessible journeys, and consistent user experience across touchpoints. The discussion will focus on three key priorities for modern transport systems. First, sustainability—how operators and planners can embed low-carbon thinking into everyday service delivery. Second, inclusivity—ensuring services are accessible and usable for all, including people with disabilities and underserved groups. Third, technology—leveraging digital tools, data, and platforms to improve coordination, efficiency, and customer engagement. Through practical insights and real-world examples, the session will offer a fresh perspective on how transport services can be designed not just to function, but to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Coventry Very Light Rail (CVLR) project
CILT
This is part of their plans to put CVLR at the heart of the growing green economy in Coventry. Hear about the trial of a new tram and learn about the innovative methods of building the new trackwork which is constructed in a quicker and cheaper way than usually done for new tram systems. The construction of the CVLR test track, which began in March 2025, involved the removal of an existing central reservation and the reconfiguration of traffic to accommodate the new infrastructure. Following the enabling works, the track slab and track installation were carried out, culminating in a 220m long demonstrator track, located on Greyfriars and Queen Victoria Road, completed on schedule in mid-May 2025. The tram gave demonstration rides during a period of trial operation to prove the concept. Colas Rail, the contractor, showed just how quickly it can be laid and the feedback from the public and technical representatives has been incredible.
