Government invests £750,000 to inspire next generation of aviation workers

Industry News

17 December 2025/Categories: Industry News, Aviation

The Government has announced £750,000 in funding for projects that will ensure young people from all backgrounds can learn about the wide range of skilled jobs available within the aviation sector.

With demand for skilled workers expected to rise following recently approved expansion plans at Gatwick, Luton and Heathrow's third runway, the Government believes its Reach for the Sky funding will support the sector's future growth opportunities.

Among the projects set to benefit is Tech, Engineering, Creative (TEC) Women, which will receive nearly £100,000 to deliver STEM career festivals in Cornwall aimed at encouraging more girls to enter the sector.

Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Minister Keir Mather, said: “Reach for the Sky plays a vital role in that mission, helping to break down barriers to opportunity and encouraging the next generation to aim high.

“Alongside securing the future of the aviation industry, this is about ensuring young people from all backgrounds can see and learn about the varied and often highly skilled jobs and future opportunities that will deliver growth across the country.”
