DHL is introducing 63 more dual fuel vehicles into its UK fleet.
Speaking to Logistics Manager, the company's innovation and business development manager Ian MacAulay said the additions mean DHL operates the biggest amount of dual heavy trucks across Europe.
He said: "The introduction of these innovative vehicles to the fleet at Bawtry marks the latest investment for DHL Supply Chain in our ongoing focus on sustainability and providing efficient solutions for our customers."
The vehicles, which will operate using the firm's refuelling station for natural gas in Bawtry, brings its total number of dual fuel carriers to 101, yet it already has another 51 expected in the upcoming months.
Its investment is also expected to reduce its CO2 emissions by approximately 1,200 tonnes in the foreseeable future. This will help both it and customers using its logistics service to reduce their harmful output and become more eco-friendly, as well as being in-line with DHL's wider GoGreen scheme to cut its CO2 down by 30 per cent by 2020.
