Boeing's revenue up 11%

24 October 2013/Categories: Industry News

Boeing has reported revenue increased 11 per cent for its third-quarter earnings, equalling $22.1 billion (£16 billion).

The Boeing Commercial Airplanes division stated revenue was up $14 billion with improved delivery volumes. It reports gaining 200 orders during the third quarter with a backlog of 4,800 carriers equal to around $345 billion.

Such figures can suggest a strong interest in business - from the likes of commercial airlines - as well as growth in the transport industry.

Similar results have been reported by Airbus, which predicts 29,000 new aircraft will be needed in the upcoming 20 years, according to a new report published today (October 24th).

It reports the biggest surge will be in the Asia-Pacific at 35 per cent, followed by Europe (20 per cent) and North America (19 per cent). In terms of individual countries, the fastest rise was recorded in India at almost ten per cent, while China and Brazil both had seven per cent upturns.

Chief operating officer for Airbus John Leahy said: "Today on average, a fifth of the population of the emerging markets take a flight annually and by 2032, this will swell to two-thirds."
