Airbus opens £70 million engineering centre

27 September 2013/Categories: Industry News

Airbus has opened its new £70 million centre - which will house 300 of the company's engineers - in Bristol.

The company has refurbished Pegasus House and the wider aerospace park in Filton - previously owned by the British Aeroplane Company. It will house employees working on various Airbus plans, including the extra wide A350 XWB and jumbo A380. The Duke of Gloucester was present to open the building.

Senior national representative for the UK Tom Williams said: "Everyone at Airbus is extremely proud of our history and of the early pioneers whose passion and drive helped make the UK’s aerospace industry one of the greatest in the world."

Staff will begin moving into Pegasus House in the upcoming weeks. Airbus already employs over 4,000 people in the Filton area, developing wings for all the company's models. It is also where it designs and tests landing gears and fuel systems.
