Swedavia, owners of ten airports across Sweden, has reported success for the second quarter of 2013.

The company showed a rise of four per cent in passengers during this time. Its net revenue increased to 1,348 million Swedish Krona (£132 million) from 1,248 million Swedish Krona, while operating profits also rose to 263 million Swedish Krona from 237 million Swedish Krona.

A large number of new routes have been announced or initiated from various airlines, including seven intercontinental flights. Success was also said to be stronger at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

Swedavia is putting much of this growth down to increased demand for international air flights. Toborg Chetkovich, chief executive of the company, said: "There is still more potential to further enhance access, especially regarding Asia and the US."

July was also recorded as being a particularly strong month for the airports, with a nine per cent increase year-on-year for the month.
